En Centinelas, la primera exposición individual de Victoria Liguori (Córdoba, 1987) en Buenos Aires, la artista presenta sus dibujos más recientes, los cuales exploran la interacción entre el cuerpo y la tecnología con un registro que evoca desde mitologías occidentales hasta la ciencia ficción. A diferencia de sus trabajos anteriores centrados en personajes específicos, ahora expande su imaginario para crear otros territorios posibles: un paisaje tecnopoético.
Durante más de diez años, la obra de Liguori se ha desarrollado en diferentes medios como la instalación, el dibujo, la escultura y el bordado. Desde entonces, sus preocupaciones han girado en torno a cómo intervenir en las clásicas y modernas diferencias que separan lo natural de lo cultural y lo artificial, así como en los límites entre lo bello y lo abyecto, y la relación del cuerpo como objeto y sujeto. En sus imágenes, los seres y las escenas fusionan lo mecánico con lo salvaje, proponiendo visiones sobre cómo la influencia de la tecnología, la biología y otras disciplinas están transformando nuestra comprensión del mundo y nuestras interacciones.
En atmósferas densas, estos seres custodian el nuevo ecosistema que va más allá de lo humano. Algunos en reposo sugieren un mínimo movimiento respiratorio, mientras que otros más dinámicos parecen integrar un elenco caótico. En este pantanal, subyace una trama vital de nuestra contemporaneidad: la afirmación de múltiples y diversas formas de vida.

In Sentinels, the first solo exhibition of Victoria Liguori (Córdoba, 1987) in Buenos Aires, the artist presents her most recent drawings, which explore the interaction between the body and technology with a register that evokes everything from Western mythologies to science fiction. Unlike her previous works, which focused on specific characters, she now expands her imaginary to create other possible territories: a technopoetic landscape.
For more than ten years, Liguori’s work has been developed in different media such as installation, drawing, sculpture and embroidery. Since then, his concerns have revolved around how to intervene in the classical and modern differences that separate the natural from the cultural and the artificial, as well as in the limits between the beautiful and the abject, and in the relationship of the body as object and subject. In his images, beings and scenes merge the mechanical with the wild, proposing visions of how the influence of technology, biology and other disciplines are transforming our understanding of the world and our interactions.
In dense atmospheres, these beings guard the new ecosystem that goes beyond the human. Some at rest suggest a minimal respiratory movement, while others, more dynamic, seem to integrate a chaotic cast. In this marshland, underlies a vital plot of our contemporaneity: the affirmation of multiple and diverse forms of life.
